About this collection

Welcome to the Purdue University Archives and Special Collections’ collection of digitized newspapers. This collection includes: The Purdue Exponent, the university’s longest-running publication of student news, activities, and events; the Purdue Alumnus, the official university publication for alumni since 1909; the Purdue Engineer, detailing activities of the Schools of Engineering; early student campus newspapers of the 1870s and 1880s; as well as The Black Hurricane, International Reporter, Boilermaker Letterman, and many other independent and underground publications. Each title describes the Purdue University student and community experience from various perspectives ranging from the formative years of the university through world wars to the civil rights movement and beyond.

These publications may contain words, images, or topics that are considered offensive today. The publications are presented in their original form to enable full scholarly research and analysis.
